Matthew lives and paints in the West End of Glasgow. He has been selling his work since 2003 around Scotland after deciding not to become a lawyer and pursuing a career in painting. He sells his pieces all over the world including as far a field as New York and is enjoying continuing gallery success all over Scotland.

Matt’s art is inspired by the two great influences in his life - the rich countryside of Ayrshire and the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow. All Matt’s pieces are inspired by the local ambience of where he lives and incorporate the themes and materials from local areas. His 'Bark' series incorporates the materials of Ayrshire nature itself; inspired by the effects of lights on the leaves, trees of the countryside and the earthy tones of the landscape and sky.

Matt is an artist member of the Scottish Art Circle, the Ayr Sketch Club and of Studio 19.
